Perfectly good sign of fate ruined by chickens

I once read in a book that every time you see a feather, it means that you are on the right path.

So, if you have just made a decision, and you look down and see a feather, then that is a very good sign.

I've kept this philosophy for years. Always looking for feathers.

I was out in the driveway, spraying my oil pan down with carb cleaner yesterday evening, because I got instructions on how to fix my oil leak from off the internet. When I chanced to down at the ground, I saw lots of feathers.

In my mind, I thought to myself, "Look at all these feathers, surly, patching this oil leak my own self is a quality decision, and a part of my path. Perhaps I should go and become an auto mechanic?"

Then, I got to thinking that there were way too many feathers in the driveway for only a single feather to have fallen down to show me a sign.

It was only then that I saw a chicken walk past me.

Apparently, E.J. has decided that his chickens are gonna be 'free range', so he's letting them wander all over the yard, and up and down the street.

Stupid chickens are molting or something, I swear God, those chickens are shedding feathers all over the place here.

So there goes my whole, 'Oh, it's a feather. A sign of fate. . . Blah, Blah, Blah' bullshit.

Fucking chickens.

I should write to the author of that book I read with the feather thing in it and ask her what happens once you move to a place that has, like, 50 chickens and ducks staggering up and down the street and hanging out in the yard.

Feathers aren't such a good predictor of fate then, now are they?

"Oh, I'm on my path. That, or else I live on a freaky CHICKEN FARM."

Stupid chickens.
